Waiting Periods for UniCare individual policies in Texas:

UniCare has waiting periods for certain medical conditions. Below is a copy of the waiting period information from UniCare's policy.

Waiting Periods

Except for Accidental Injury, an Insured Person must be insured for 6 consecutive months under this Plan to be eligible for benefits for all services including but not limited to all tests, consultations, examinations, medications, invasive, medical, laboratory or surgical procedures that are related to the evaluation or treatment of:

  • hernia except for strangulated or incarcerated hernia.
  • any disorder of reproductive organs.
  • sterilization
  • varicose veins.
  • hemorrhoids.
  • any disorder of tonsils or adenoids.

An Insured Person must also be insured for 30 consecutive days under this Plan prior to the inception of pregnancy to be eligible for and benefits of Complications of Pregnancy.

If You are admitted to a Hospital or Skilled Nursing Facility for any of the conditions requiring fulfillment of the Waiting Period before the end of the Waiting Period, no benefits will be provided for any portion of that Hospital stay.
